The Race Across America (RAAM) is one of the most respected and longest running sporting events in the world.
RAAM has a rich and storied history when four individuals raced from Santa Barbara to New York city in 1982. Today, this bicycle race travels 3,000 miles across America from Oceanside, California to Annapolis, Maryland beginning in June 2017.
In 2017, RAAM will celebrate 36 years of racing.
There is no other race like it in the world. The Race inspires everyone who has been part of it. It is a true test of speed, endurance, strength and camaraderie. The Race has had riders from 5 continents and 35 countries. In the last 10 years, RAAM has been used to promote awareness and fundraising for dozens of charities and has raised well over $10 million.
During the 12 days of the event in June 2016, the website received over 25 million visitors. Beginning in 2016, RAAM greatly enhanced media coverage with real time reporting on an hourly basis from reporters and photographers along the route feeding information to the website, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
